Penny Chalke

Penny has experience in negotiating and drafting of a wide variety of commercial documents including sale of business/shares, manufacturing, supply/distribution agreements, service agreements, partnerships and joint venture documentation.
Penny enjoys being an approachable point of contact and providing practical legal solutions for her clients.
Penny joined Shiff & Company in early 2015, having previously worked at a national law firm. She has also had experience as in-house counsel at the Food Standards Agency and BBC in London.
Penny is a graduate of the AICD Company Directors Course.
Recent matters
Penny’s recent matters include:
- Undertaking a large amount of acquisition and disposal work for one of Australia’s leading private healthcare operators
- Establishing international supply and distribution networks for a large Australian manufacturer
- Preparation of finance and security agreements and registration and discharge of security interests under the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth)
- Advising not-for-profit entities on structuring and eligibility for tax concessions under the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission Act 2012 (Cth)
Pro Bono
Penny is a board member and secretary of the National Young Writers’ Festival, a not for profit organisation that runs an annual festival based in Newcastle for young and emerging writers.
